After a long association with Irish pub design and Angela Murphy, Patrick Achiam from Denmark, having lost contact with her and once again regaining it through none other than a local Bray restaurant (specialising in spicy prawns!) embarked upon yet another Irish pub project.

Angela Murphy Design Associates also built a hospitality bar at the Sony entertainment plaza for Expo '98 in Lisbon. This was a huge success for both Patrick and Unicer, (distributors for Guinness, Super Bock, etc.). The bar featured in Guinness Globe magazine. The bar was built with the dual purpose of re-use for a future project, which Patrick was planning... Clube Naval de Lisboa.

Built to the tightest constraints of time to meet the summer regatta and a somewhat limited budget, Hennessy's, Clube Naval de Lisboa opened on time and within budget without any hiccups. It is a simple yet effective design using a mix of old and new materials and fittings - complete with a 4ft Galway Hooker boat and original Bill Doyle photos.
