Moran's Oyster Cottage is world renown for its seafood. It is located close to the main Galway to Ennis road on the shores of a peaceful inlet from Galway Bay. It is frequented by Princes, Kings, Presidents, Ministers, Movie stars, Rock stars, Football stars, and Connoisseurs of good food and Guinness. This historic thatched cottage premises is in the Moran family for almost two hundred and fifty years.

The brief was to provide a design for a bar/lounge and restaurant extension together with also providing extensive kitchen and cold-store facilities. This to be in keeping with the original cottage and village style.

The old cottage is retained in its entirety and the later extensions to the rear are replaced with what appears from the outside as another village streetscape. This is thatched in the traditional west of Ireland style. Extensive fish restaurant storage and service facilities are located behind this. A discrete new shopfront in traditional proportions and details provide a new entrance to the extended pub areas. The interiors of these are treated in a simple country cottage style. It is a most effective solution for this landmark pub.
