images above to see a bigger version of them. Borris is located on the Carlow/Kilkenny border close to the well-known Gowran racetrack. It boasts to be one of Ireland's greatest drinking towns. The O'Shea family has traded at this premises for many generations in every product imaginable for service to a broad hinterland with perhaps the one exception of the undertaking business. The project consisted of completely refurbishing, after considerable fire damage, what was and still is a genuine pub/hardware and grocery shop. Its busy pub trade comprises of a complete cross section of the community ranging from a lively youth, to the farming and business community, to the even more lively elderly. A Victorian Parlour/lounge area was also added during the construction work. The main pub area comprises of a maze of tightly packed stock shelving in the traditional brightly coloured paint finishes. Much of the counters and shelving were replaced with new to match the original. Jim was also delighted to find in our stocks an exact match for his Afton clock and Jameson sign, which now take pride of place in this authentic establishment. |
